Safety Clothing For The Water Jetting Industry

Worker protection is the most important concern within the water jetting industry. Workers must be aware of the dangers of coming in contact with a pressurized water jet stream and with debris being thrown during jetting. Jetting injuries are dangerous, not just because the water is traveling extremely fast, but also because the water is often contaminated with oil, sewage, or dirt from the line that is being jetted. When these toxins penetrate the skin during a high pressure water strike, they can cause serious infections and in rare cases lead to amputation or death. Any injuries sustained during a jetting operation should be treated by a doctor.

Basic requirements for safety during jetting are hand and eye protection. US Jetting recently partnered with TST Sweden and came out with a new line of safety clothing, including gloves that can protect against water strikes up to 7500PSI (500 BAR). These gloves, in addition to other safety gear, are highly recommended for all water jet operators to wear. Coveralls, jackets, pants, and aprons are all available as part of the safety line.
